Description
Of circular form with six V-shaped double flutes extending 3cm downward from the rim, the deep, hand raised bowl has a simple, circular collet foot and carries, on the base of the internal surface, chased decoration taking the form of six curving foliate branches interspersed with back-scrolling lines like tendrils, all encircling a capital letter ‘W’.

Hallmarks:
The bowl is marked near the rim with the maker’s mark “A C W”, in plain capitals within a rectangular punch, for Amy Coral Walter; a Lion Passant Gardant (Sterling); a shield with a sword and 3 wheat sheaves; and upper case blackletter ‘W’ (Chester 1947-8).

Amy Coral Walter, at that time of “Lynton Vale”, Lynton Park Road, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, was born on 17 July 1909 and died 8 December 1985. She was then living in Meliden, Clwyd near Prestatyn.
