Description
This unusually fine Raj Silver Kashmir Batchelor three piece tea set with tray was made in Srinagar (Kashmir), circa 1890. The set consists of a lidded teapot, an open milk pot and sugar bowl, and a matching tri-lobed tray.
Of rounded-off square shape, standing on an offset square base, each piece is chased with scrolling Coriander flowers and foliage and has a plain rim. The milk pot and sugar bowl have gilded interiors whereas the teapot and its hinged lid have a plain interior. The trip-lobed tray has a matching design with a pierced border.
