Description
An assembled service of 12 place settings comprising dessert spoons and forks, tablespoons and forks plus teaspoons, all in the classic Fiddle pattern by the specialist flatware making partnership of William Eley and William Fearn. All are un-engraved and have had any signs of previous engraving (e.g. initials, crests) removed. Individual pieces have different years of manufacture over the range 1815-1821 as follows:
Dessert spoons (12): 1 x 1817, 11 x 1819.
Dessert forks (12): 5 x 1815, 1 x 1818, 6 x 1819.
Table forks: (12): 1 x 1816, 1 x 1817, 3 x 1818, 7 x 1819.
Tablespoons (12): 12 x 1818.
Teaspoons (12): 1 x 1815, 5 x 1817, 3 x 1819, 1 x 1820, 2 x 1821.
Hallmarks:
All pieces carry the appropriate control marks for Sterling Silver (Lion Passant Guardant), assayed in London (Crowned Leopard’s Head), the king’s head duty mark (George III), with a date letter appropriate to the year and the maker’s mark of Roman capitals “WE” upon “WF” for William Eley and William Fearn.
